My dog Rocco is quite the puller, and I was honestly annoyed by cheap harnesses that stretch out after two weeks. While searching I came across Bellerei, a small brand from Austria developed by a dog trainer. I placed an order and want to share honestly how it went.

What Bellerei actually does

Bellerei is an online shop for sustainable dog accessories. It is based in Lower Austria, near Tulln, but ships mostly to Germany. The range is broader than I expected:

What I noticed

The size guide actually works

I only had to measure the chest circumference and neck circumference, then check the table. Rocco fell between two sizes, so as recommended I took the larger one. It fits. You can adjust at the neck and chest anyway.

The build quality holds up

The harness is properly padded and has a split chest strap so the dog can't slip out. The reflective strips in the webbing are genuinely useful on our early winter morning walks. Nothing wobbles, the carabiners feel sturdy.

Focus on animal welfare

You can tell there is someone knowledgeable behind the brand. The fits are designed for freedom of movement, and there are explanations for why something is built a certain way. No marketing fluff, just concrete points.

Shipping from Austria

I was worried about long delivery times, but the package arrived about as fast as it would from a German shop. Shipping is free from 70 euros, which I easily reached with the harness plus leash.

Where it falls short

Honestly: it is not cheap. The handmade one-of-a-kind collars can cost over 200 euros in some cases, which is a real statement. For the basic products I found the prices okay, but you should know what you are getting into. Also, many products have variants that you can only select on the product page. On my first order I had to click back and forth twice before I had colour and size sorted together. And with the CBD oil: there are several strengths from 10 to 50 percent. Without prior knowledge I was briefly overwhelmed about which one suits my dog. There is a guidance tool, but I had to read through it first.

My verdict

After a few weeks with the harness I am satisfied. Rocco walks more relaxed, nothing chafes, and the quality has held up to its promises so far. The over 340 reviews at 4.9 out of 5 line up fairly well with my experience. If you are looking for cheap disposable gear, this is not the place. But if you want long-lasting, fairly produced accessories and are willing to pay a bit more, you should check out Bellerei. I will order there again.
