I’ve had a beard for about six years now, and for most of that time I did the classic thing: ignored it, let it get scratchy, then wondered why my chin was flaky. A mate who takes his beard far too seriously kept telling me to try Lordofthebeards.com, so eventually I caved and ordered.

Here’s how it went.

What they actually sell

Lordofthebeards.com is a UK brand (founded in 2020) that focuses on beard oils, balms, grooming kits and gift sets. The oils come in 30ml and 50ml sizes, and they lean heavily into scents rather than just being unscented and functional. Their most talked-about fragrances are Alpha Male, Tobacco Docks and Oud Enigma. They also do combo packs, like a brush and oil bundle, and a few gift sets aimed at people buying for someone else.

What stood out to me

A few things genuinely surprised me, in a good way.

  • The scents are the highlight. I went for Tobacco Docks, which is smoky and a bit old-fashioned in the best sense. It lasts a good few hours without being overpowering.
  • The oil isn’t greasy. This was my main worry. A couple of drops sink in fast and my beard felt softer by the second day of using it.
  • Handcrafted in the UK, vegan and cruelty-free. I like knowing where things are made, and the natural ingredients bit isn’t just a slogan here.

The gift set packaging also felt more premium than I expected for the price. I ended up buying one for my brother later on.

The small stuff worth mentioning

It’s not perfect, and I’d rather be honest. The oils sit at the higher end price-wise, so if you just want something cheap and functional, this probably isn’t your first stop. Free UK delivery kicks in over £30, which is easy enough to hit with a kit but slightly annoying if you only want a single 30ml bottle. And the scent range, while good, is fairly focused, so if you dislike oud or tobacco notes your options narrow a bit.

One more thing: the website copy is very keen. Lots of talk about confidence and commanding rooms. The products speak for themselves, so I could have done with less of that.

My verdict

Would I buy again? Yes, and I already have. The oil does what it says, the scents are the real draw, and my beard genuinely feels less like a scouring pad. If you’ve been putting off proper beard care, or you need a decent gift for a bearded friend, Lordofthebeards.com is an easy one to recommend. Grab the FIRST15 code on your first order and start with a single bottle before committing to a full kit.
